October, 1914 "Face of the Dragon"

  • At a later point in the same month of his trip to Hawaii, Indiana travels back with his father to China (this time to Tsingtao & Wei-hai-wei), and finds himself in harms way thanks to a bejeweled gold dragon that he can’t part ways from.


  • Tsingtao - more prominently known as Qingdao - is the largest city in the Shandong Province on the east coast of China, with a population of over 9 million. It is a major seaport, naval base, and industrial center, that’s also home to the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, the world’s largest sea bridge.

  • Wei-hai-wei - today known as simply Weihai - a city in eastern Shandong province, a major seaport with a population of almost 3 million.
