Legacy Track of the Week: Like (of Pac Div) ft Anderson Paak - Mission Road

“Nobody wants it… more than meeee” This one is apparently a leak of Like’s debut solo album scheduled to be released later this year, and with help from the arguably the hottest man in music this one is straight flames and it hits home… I only wish it was longer than 2 minutes… yet either way this leaves me hopeful that the upcoming album “Songs Made While High’ will have more where this came from... cause we need it...

The Game - Pest Control/ Ooouuuu RMX

"Yeah, take Beans back to rehab, on Instagram lookin' like a mothafuckin' bean bag, flyin' through Philly on them Wocky sticks, punk-ass *****, I'll beat you with a hockey stick, the ***** Hov gave you the game, you ain't soak it, you was s'posed to throw up the Roc, not smoke it" The Game is the last person in rap that you want to have problems with, cause even if nothing happens (as we all should hope for) he can absolutely murder you on wax - and simply from a music (and social media) standpoint he is beating Meek Mill into the ground. Even the legend Beanie Sigel had to cop a plea and then he apparently got violated for it at the Bad Boy reunion tour? For the record if you’re Meek Mill putting hands on Beans doesn’t get you any points at all, but goin at the Broad Street Bully with bars absolutely is admirable, and thus far The Game has dominated this battle in every way imaginable.

Meek Mill ft Omelly & Beanie Sigel - OOOUUU

“Durk checked you, Thug sonned you (what else?), Fif dropped you (what else?), Mac oned you (what else?), strippers turned rappers look what we come to, you a faggot, my lady'll never fuck you” So apparently Beans was called in to help Omelly with the verse, and then called Game to apologize once he saw what it was, and then the Dreamchasers put hands on him… either way it’s a L for Philly even tho the track is definitely decent. I always thought Wanna Know was better than people gave it credit for, and this is also another good counterpunch that unfortunately isn’t about to do any damage. On a separate note the IG shit from Game is funny and you’re hating if you disagree - all up in Philly, West Side North Side wherever eating every kind of cheesesteak sayin that he wants a fair one... and idk how you don’t respect that. Second battle Meek has lost definitively…

TI - We Will Not

"When we won't go shop in the mall, united we all, stuck in this bullshit together, showin' these folk we just won't take whatever, or else they just roll up and shoot at whatever, just like they've been doin' forever." The first record off the Us or Else EP that Tip released after the aquittal of all six officers in the Freddie Grey case, which was all the more relevant beforehand, and now more than ever before with the latest murders of black men at the hands of the police. This one is straight to the point and is a reminder that TI is more lyrical than he’s given credit for, and for that reason this subject matter is a great look for the veteran MC to show what’s he’s capable.

TI - Warzone

"I'll be a martyr if my great grandaughter benefit, they pull you over, ask you where your license at, be careful reachin' for it, you know you can die for that" The best record off the Us or Else EP, which is great content and right on time for what we’re goin thru as a nation. This one also shows TI is no slouch when it comes to bars or delivery… TI can rap… and it’s nice to be reminded of that. Watch the powerful videos above.

NxWorries (Anderson Paak & Knxwledge) - Lyk Dis

"Say my name love (Just like this), now pick your legs up (Just like this), everything you do, oh when you do it..." Following up their debut EP 'Link Up & Suede' from last year, the duo from Los Angeles are back with this smooth cut about gettin it in and I fux with it… right now Anderson Paak is hitting about 95% from the field and running away from the competition.

Chris Brown ft Bryson Tiller - Keep You In Mind

“Keep… you… in.. mind (in my mind…)” Breezy and Tiller trade verses on this new record that’s nothin less than smooth… and it’s definitely good enough to be a promotional single for CB’s next album Heartbreak On A Full Moon.

2 Chainz ft Drake - Big Amount

“Look, I got a big amount, I think I'm the biggest out, got hits and I ain't even put 'em out, lit and you can't even put it out, got the Billboard melodies rap is somethin' I do on the side, crossed over to the other side and I didn't even have to die” This is a cool lil record where Drizzy is flexin per usual and doin his numbers… I wish we could attribute the lyrics to himself but all we know is that they’re fire nonetheless... meanwhile 2 Chainz floats on this instrumental as well.

Skylar Grey ft Eminem - Kill For You

“Always ride, whatever the plan is, to the end, even if I led us into an ambush, even if we robbed the First National and cops caught us red-handed” This is a nice lil Bonnie & Clyde type of record… not at all like the 97 Bonnie & Clyde from Em’s debut album… but Skylar Grey delivers a smooth melody and the legend formally known as Slim Shady does aiight on this as well.

The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - Starboy

“Look what you've done, I’m a motherfuckin' starboy” Said to be the first single off The Weeknd’s new album due out this November, this one is an infectious high energy track that is aided by the French Electronic Duo known as Daft Punk, in their first ever collaboration. Video treatment above.

Ariana Grande - Jason’s Song (Gave It Away)

“If you don't want to see the girl I want to be, then why, then why should I listen…” Written by a songwriter named Jason Robert Browne, who more or less founded Ariana Grande some years ago and put her in the Broadway show ‘13 the Musical’ - this is seemingly a tribute to her former mentor and it’s kinda decent…

Justin Timberlake- CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!

"Nothing I can see but you when you dance, dance, dance" The theme song to the upcoming Trolls movie, which stars Justin Timberlake as one of the voices who is also the executive producer for the film’s soundtrack - which was released this week. This one is a great feel good dance record and there’s no way to not like this... the music video released a few months ago already has 230 million views and counting...
