Legacy Track of the Week: E Mozzy ft Celly Ru - Oooohhhh

“Boy you don’t really live like that/ have hitters at your house like where the shit at/ Oooohhhh” The twin brother of Mozzy, better known as E Mozzy, released his latest project, Political Boundaries, and per usual the energy coming out of Sacramento is a force to be reckoned with.

E Mozzy - Trxppn Trxppn

“He acting like LeBron/ we gon send you to the Lakers/ I always knew deep down you was a trader” I really wish the production credits were made known because this song is a banger 🔥🔥🔥 play this music on loud once the Corona pandemic ends.

Styles P - Give N Take

“Catch a homi' and leave a riddle (Hahaha)/ funny ***** but more like the Joker” The legendary Ghost released his 11th and 12th solo albums in 2019, and it goes without saying that both are scattered with jewelry and can not be ignored.

Styles P - Raw Dreams

“I'm prayin' to the heavens and I'm talkin' to the Father/ but I'm high and I'm having raw dreams/ yeah I hope the prayer register/ I'm at the cash register and all I know is give me more cream” Produced by his son, Prophe.t aka Noah Styles, this record is vintage Styles with his samurai sword as sharp as it’s ever been.

Styles P ft Nino Man - What’s Up Boy

“This is lyrical heroin/ steppin' out the Jaguar, ready to rock the Meadowlands” One of the more memorable records off S.P. The GOAT: Ghost of All Time.

PnB Rock ft Quavo & Mally Mall - F*** Up the City

“I'm 'bout to pull up (Fuck up the city)” The Philly artist released his sophomore album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar, in 2019 and this is one of the better records off the double-disc tape.

PnB Rock ft Diplo - Swervin

“Driving downtown, just waiting for you (Waiting for you)/ got an R&B playlist playing for you (Playing for you)” The Diplo produced track is a decent enough vibe that sets a tone for Volume 2 of the relatively successful TrapStar Turnt PopStar.

PnB Rock ft Lil Skies - I Like Girls

“I like girls who like girls (Ooh)/ kissing on her friend off white, girl (Off white)/ and she 23 like Mike, girl/ I like girls who like girls (Yeah)” In terms of success, I’m not sure about the numbers but this ‘Hitmaka’ produced track went crazy all summer.

Tink ft Dej Loaf - Ride It

“Start by telling me just where it hurts (Where it hurts)/ cause I know just how to fix it, see I'm talented and gifted” I’m just getting familiar with the Calumet City, Illinois product, who I realize I was confusing with Tweet, the Missy Elliott/Timbaland-produced singer from the early 2000s. Interestingly enough, Tink was previously signed to Timbaland’s imprint of Epic Records, prior to signing with Empire last year which led to the release of the mixtape, Hopeless Romantic, that has a few jewels that deserve some shine.

Tink - Litty Again (Thoughts)

“(One) Breakin' you down in the crib/ (Two) Throwin' you right on the bed/ (Three) Huggin' you tight in my arms/ Wrappin' you up while you holdin' my legs/ (Four) Givin' you sex in a ride,/ (Five) you better hurry and slide/ I lay awake in the dark/ and these are the thoughts that's all on my mind” Not sure who produced this but this is one of the better R&B records of 2019, and off that respect Tink deserves a better look in 2020.

Jacob Latimore - Heartbreak Made Me

“Girl it's alright, yeah… cause I stare in your eyes, yeah… I can see that you want me… by the way that you smile” The Milwaukee native released his sophomore album, Connection2, on Empire in 2019, and this Jon B-infused track is a jewel off the strength of the sample alone.

Jacob Latimore - Chillin Wit You

“Chillin’ with you/ that’s always a move/ you’re never lonely when I’m there” I’m not too familiar with the actor/musicians’ work, who has credits in films such as Black Nativity, The Maze Runner, Collateral Beauty, and Detroit, although this release has definitely caught my ear and I’m officially paying attention.

Vampire Weekend - Harmony Hall

“I don't wanna live like this/ but I don't wanna die” The NYC based and critically acclaimed indie Rock band released their fourth album, Father of the Bride, which garnered them their second Grammy award for Best Alternative Rock Album, their first coming in 2013 for Modern Vampires of the City. I apparently need to do some homework on Vampire Weekend because I like this record.
