[Depicted in Indiana Jones and the Dinosaur Eggs - the tenth novel in the series published by Bantam Books, and the second written by Max McCoy- released in 1996]
Following a ride on a Nazi submarine, Jones is persuaded by an attractive missionary to search for her missing father in Mongolia, where it’s noted that a Professor Angus Starbuck has discovered a fresh dinosaur bone in the Gobi Desert.
From there, Indy crosses China through treacherous mountains to Outer Mongolia where he encounters the region’s fiercest warlords.
Later on, Indy duels with wild dogs and bloodthirsty killers who are in a desperate effort to save the last living triceratops.
It should be noted, that this is the first adventure in which Indy encounters a soon-to-be rival in Lao Che, a Chinese gangster who has essentially enslaved Indy’s friend, Wu Han, by holding captive the remains of his family. Indiana is able to retrieve the ashes and free Wu Han, while managing to escape from Lao Che’s assassins, including his son Kao Kan, onboard a train out of Shanghai.
