June, 1910 "Melbourne"

[Intended to be depicted in the third season of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, was ultimately never filmed]

  • Months later after their trip to Tokyo, the Jones family found themselves in Melbourne, Australia, where Indiana was able to meet the renowned magician and escape artist Harry Houdini.

  • Although the details of this trip are vague, it’s been said that Indiana accompanied Houdini on the first successful flight over Australia, at a time when the magician was fascinated with aviation.

  • To date Houdini is credited by some sources as the first person to fly in Australia, however other sources contradict those claims.

  • Nonetheless it would only be a few months later when the Jones family World Tour would come to an end, and by that August they all had returned to Princeton.

  • Amongst his expositions in flight, Harry Houdini was a Hungarian-American illusionist and stunt performer - leading to his reputation as the greatest magician of all time.
