Legacy Track of the Week: Young Thug ft Travis Scott & J. Cole - The London

"I know—I know you in high demand"/ I'm ballin' on a pussy ***** like Juwanna Mann/ I'm drownin' all inside the pussy like I never swam/ Ayy, fuck your IG, I put somethin' on your sonogram/ I'm the man” J. Cole absolutely smoked this T-Minus production that did major numbers for Young Thug’s So Much Fun album.

Ty Dolla $ign ft J. Cole - Purple Emoji

“Love you forever/ when we turn like 50, I'm still gonna have all of your messages saved/ purple emojis with horns on it/ like the devil, but ain't nothin' devilish, babe” 2019 was the official J. Cole feature run after he infamously (and incredibly) went Platinum 3x over with no features, and sure enough he smoked just about every instrumental he touched.

YG ft Tyga, Jon Z - Go Loko

“My bitch go loco (Go loco, go loco)/ María, María, María/ slide on a ***** with the .44 (With the .44, with the .44)” All Mexicano vibes on this single off YG’s fourth album, 4REAL 4REAL, that complements his eccentric style well and is produced by GYLTTRYP and long-time collaborator Mustard.

YG ft Rose Gold - Keisha Had a Baby

“Young Keshia, so fly, so diva” Produced by DJ Swish, this ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’ type record is probably one of YG’s best moments to date.

Joyner Lucas ft Logic - Isis

“Kidnap a ***** like ISIS (Whoa)/ turn a whole world to a crisis/ walk around the city with a ice pick/ I been paranoid, usually, I ain't like this/ Ain't no tellin' how crazy I might get, uh/ beat the police with a nightstick/ In my whole life, I been lifeless/ now I'm so fly, I'm a muhfuckin' flight risk” 🔥🔥🔥 two well-respected lyricists in the game went ahead and smoked this single off Joyner’s long-awaited debut album, ADHD, the production on this is crazy.

Steve Lacy ft Daisy - Like me

“How many out there just like me?/ How many work on self-acceptance like me?/ How many face a situation like me? I wonder, I wonder…” A highlight off Steve Lacy’s debut album, Apollo XXI, after making his mark as an accomplished bassist with The Internet, this is a good ‘coming out’ party.

Steve Lacy - Playground

“Know you wanna play 'round/ well, baby, I'm on the playground” Steve Lacy is literally from another generation, evident in these records that appear to clearly be recorded in the 1970’s, and are timeless all the same.

Steve Lacy - Hate CD

“I need some self-discipline/ where do I start to begin/ who can I call to help me? In need of somethin' heavy, yeah/ cause I'm addicted to this drug” More dopeness from one of the best guitarists connected to hip-hop culture.

Steve Lacy - N Side

“Inside, inside, tell me, is it inside? My darling” 🔥🔥🔥 In all its simplicity this is the best record off Apollo XXI and Steve Lacy’s best record to date.

Flying Lotus ft Anderson .Paak - More

“Spent years tryna steer both hands on you/ til I finally understood that I was spinnin' my hoop/ rather spinnin' my wheels/ gettin' up in my years/ but still I feel like a kid when I'm fuckin' with you” Flying Lotus x Anderson .Paak 🔥🔥🔥 enough said.

Flying Lotus ft Little Dragon - Spontaneous

“Catch the wind, come with birds/ catchin' feelings, lost my words with you/ catch a flame, catch a night/ catch a feeling', catch a ride with you” Flying Lotus released their sixth album, Flamagra, and these were the two vibes I caught the most.

KXNG Crooked - More Love

“Feeling like the modern day/ Marvin Gaye cause I gotta say/ what’s going on/ first let me send condolences Slauson’s way” Another miscellaneous record from Crooked I with potent bars and a familiar sample, this one was a good look from the West Coast veteran.

Moneybagg Yo - Part Of Da Game

“Gotta play off the plug (What reason?) It ain't about the money, it's 'about the relationship (Law)” Free game from Moneybagg Yo off his second album, 43VA HEARTLESS.

Moneybagg Yo ft Offset - Style Ain’t Free

“Young Vince Carter with the carbon (Bow)/ I can paint a picture in your head, I'm a artist” Not a bad record but it’s mumble rap all the same, even when you understand every word.
